Upper Room Discourse

9/3/2025 - 2/16/2026

“Upper Room Discourse” – a title given to a block of Jesus’ teaching in the Gospel of John, chapters 13-17. In these chapters we’ll see Jesus spending time with His disciples on the night before His crucifixion. The disciples had gathered to remember the Passover by sharing a meal together in the “upper room.” The Apostle John doesn’t give us the context of the upper room text, but Mark and Luke’s gospels do. So we’ll drop into the story in John 13 with the “Passover meal” already in progress…and in this text we’ll see some of Jesus’ most profound teaching on the fundamental values of His Kingdom and the meaning of Christian discipleship.
